## Abstract

This interim rule sets forth HUD's policies and procedures for the sale of HUD-held single family mortgages. HUD intends to sell a large portion of its single family mortgages, including both performing and nonperforming mortgages, without recourse and without FHA insurance. HUD intends to sell these mortgages to reduce losses to the FHA fund, decrease its inventory of single family mortgages, and improve the servicing of these mortgages.
