## Abstract

On August 8, 1996 (61 FR 41480), HUD published an interim rule amending its regulations governing fair housing complaint processing. Specifically, the rule removed a provision allowing a respondent to request a subpoena during a fair housing investigation. This rule finalizes the policies and procedures set forth in the August 8, 1996 interim rule and takes into consideration the public comments received on the interim rule. HUD has decided to adopt the interim rule without change.
