This referral requests that DOJ authorize the US Attorney's office for the D.Utah to simultaneously initiate and resolve a civil action against Union Pacific Railroad for violations of the CAA. A group of workers for Union Pacific removed and demolished 13 metal control point huts from their foundations. The huts housed electronic circuitry and more likely thannot contained asbestos. The workers removed the asbestos warning labels and the huts were transported for disposal. One hut was tested and found to contain 123 square feet of 12% chrysotile asbestos.
