Corrective Action Order signed for Reserve Environmental Services in Ashtabula, Ohio.
An Administrative Order on Consent under Section 3008(h) of RCRA was signed on March 11, 2005 between U. S. EPA and Reserve Environmental Services in Ashtabula, Ohio. Reserve Environmental Services has operated a waste disposal business in Ashtabula, Ohio since 1964. They have disposed of hazardous waste and hazardous constituents in lagoons, landfills, and on surface soils throughout the site. Hazardous constituents have been found in groundwater, soils, and surface water and sediments at and near the site. The primary contaminants of concern are volatile organic compounds, semi-volatile organic compounds, and inorganics. The Order required remedies include engineered landfill covers, groundwater and surface water monitoring, expanding landfill interceptor trenching systems, intermittent groundwater pump and treat system, institutional controls (equitable servitude agreements with Ohio EPA), and monitored natural attenuation.
