Respondent is an oil and gas exploration and production company operating in the Gulf of Mexico (Mississippi Canyon, block 429). They had a weld failure in an umbelical that carries chemicals to and from the platform and the wells on the floor of the Gulf. The failure resulted in 60 gallons of methanol discharging into the Gulf of Mexico. EPA is ordering Respondent to take steps to minimize the chance of this happening again.
