U.S. EPA Region 5 entered into a consent agreement and final order with Cognis Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio. Cognis operates a specialty chemicals facility and used stratospheric ozone depleting compounds in its refrigeration units. U.S. EPA alleged that Cognis failed to perform verification tests and document work performed on two refrigeration units. Cognis agreed to pay a penalty of $44,000.
