The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 issued a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to Wisconsin Plating Works of Racine, Inc. for violations of the National Emission Standard for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for Halogenated Solvent Cleaning. The alleged violations included the failure to monitor and record the freeboard refrigeration device temperature of their vapor degreaser that uses trichloroethylene. Wisconsin Plating Works of Racine, Inc. has implemented additional training and update their vapor degreaser procedures to ensure continued compliance of the monitoring and recordkeeping requirements for the NESHAP for Halogenated Solvent Cleaning.
The agreement requires Wisconsin Plating Works of Racine, Inc. to pay a civil penalty of $30,000.
