On September 11, 2008, the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) conducted a routine marketplace inspection at Independent Nutrition Center in Palmer, Alaska. The inspector found the product 100% Natural Insect Repellent during the inspection. At first the product was thought to meet the 25(b) registration exemption but upon further examination, it did not appear to meet all the qualifications. ADEC was concerned that this product may be an unregistered pesticide and forwarded the information to EPA for further review. After consideration of this information, EPA has determined that Insect Repellent as currently manufactured, packaged, and labeled is an unregistered pesticide. As a result, this product must first be registered with the EPA as a pesticide before it be legally sold and distributed in the United States.
