On September 24, 2009, U.S. EPA Region 5 referred a civil enforcement action to the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Section 309(b) of the Clean Water Act (CWA). The referred action by U.S. EPA seeks to have between 2.5 acres to 5.0 acres of wetlands restored on property owned and operatd by Great Plains Expoloration, Inc. of Painesville, Lake County, Ohio. The referred action also requests maximum civil penalties provided under the CWA.
