Academy of Math and Science failed to conduct an inspection and develop an asbestos management plan as required under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). The charter school has since had an asbestos management plan prepared. Academy of Math and Science was fined $5,185 for these violations of AHERA but is required to pay $2,069 into the Asbestos Trust Fund because the penalty is larger than its cost of compliance.
