The City of New Meadows, Idaho (City) has agreed to pay a $1,900 penalty to settle violations of the NPDES permit issued to the City for discharges from the City's wastewater treatment facility (WWTF). This enforcement action was resolved through an administrative consent agreement and final order pursuant to Clean Water Act section 309(g)(2)(B). The City's WWTF provides secondary treatment of wastewater prior to discharge into the Little Salmon River. The WWTF is part of a sanitary sewer system that receives domestic wastewater from residential and commercial sources. Between January 2006 and October 2010, the facility had 935 effluent limit violations of its permit limits for Escherichia coli, biochemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, total residual chlorine and pH.
