Summary

The Site includes Respondent's battery processing facility, facility employee vehicles and homes in the vicinity of the facility that have been contaminated by lead dust from the facility and a parcel of cattle pasture land approximately 600 feet long by 50 feet wide, located adjacent to and immediately north of the facility. Under the terms of the Administrative Order on Consent, Respondent will establish, implement, and maintain temporary potential migration of lead contaminated dust from the facility on workers' clothes, shoes, persons, and personal vehicles to their homes in order to reduce elevated blood levels above 10 micrograms per deciliter documented in susceptible populations, such as children below 7 years, lactating and pregnant women. In addition, a removal action will be undertaken to excavate and remove the lead-contaminated soil in the portion of the cattle area closest to the facility.
