On August 16, 2011, EPA Region 1 entered into an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ÂESAÂ) with Illinois Tool Works of Rockland, Mass. for alleged violations of Section 112(r) of the Clean Air Act. The company failed to review and update its hazard assessment and resubmit its risk management plan as required under Section 112(r)(7) of the Risk Management Program (ÂRMPÂ) regulations. The facility corrected the violations and paid a penalty of $2,560.
