On June 9, 2015, the United States lodged a Consent Decree in settlement of Clean Air Act (CAA) claims against Clearwater Paper Corporation (Clearwater), imposing civil penalties and injunctive relief for violations of CAA Section 111 New Source Performance Standards, Section 112 National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, and Title V at Clearwater?s pulp and paper mill in Lewiston, Idaho. The Consent Decree, which is subject to a 30-day public comment period prior to entry, requires Clearwater to pay a civil penalty of $300,000 and to re-route an emission stream containing hazardous air pollutants and total reduced sulfur to a control device.
