The EPA settled a case with the Respondent for violations of the Clean Air Act at the companyÂs pharmaceutical manufacturing plant, in Barceloneta, Puerto Rico. The Respondent did not have the proper air pollution controls to prevent leaks of methylene chloride gas used in the manufacturing process. In addition to coming into compliance with the leak detection requirements, the Respondent has agreed to a penalty payment and spend $410,000 to expand the municipal recycling program in Barceloneta.
