On December 17, 2013, Region 10 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) against PPG Industries (PPG) that resolves violations of the hazardous substances reporting requirements of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act. The violations include failure to immediately notify the State Emergency Response Commission, Local Emergency Planning Committee, and National Response Center of a release of approximately 44 pounds of chlorine gas. The company agreed to pay a penalty of $28,344.
