Region 1 settled an administrative penalty action against Fiber Materials Inc. (Fiber Materials) for violations of Section 313 of EPCRA. Fiber Materials failed to complete and submit a Toxic Release Inventory Form for polycyclic aromatic compounds processed at the companyÂs Biddeford, Maine facility in 2012. The CAFO requires Fiber Materials to perform an SEP worth $13,240, and pay a civil penalty of $6,935. In order to complete the SEP, Fiber Materials will purchase and donate emergency response equipment to the Biddeford Fire Department that will protect emergency responders from being overcome by toxic fumes during emergencies. Fiber Materials will also certify that it is currently operating in compliance with Section 313 of EPCRA and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
