This case addresses violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) by Crazy Coolers, LLC ( CCLLC ), operating out of Raleigh, North Carolina. On May 30, 2013, CCLLC caused the importation of 360 motorized coolers equipped with uncertified small nonroad gasoline engines manufactured by Shandong Huasheng Zhongtian Machinery Group. CCLLC directed IC Solutions to import the coolers on its behalf.
As part of the settlement with EPA, CCLLC paid a $6,500 civil penalty, replaced the 360 uncertified engines installed in the coolers with certified engines and exported the uncertified engines.
