On September 30, 2014, Region 1 issued a CAFO that both initiated and resolved violations of TSCA and the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule alleged against Groen Builders, Inc. (Groen) of Rochester, New Hamphshire. Groen is a general contractor that does both commercial and residential construction. In 2012, Groen performed three separate renovation projects on target housing that were not in compliance with the RRP Rule. Groen will pay a penalty of $14,950 for these violations and certify compliance with the RRP Rule. The penalty amount is based on GroenÂs claim of ability to pay and an analysis of the companyÂs financial documents. This settlement ensures that renovations of target housing will be conducted in a lead safe manner, protecting children from the risks of lead paint.
