On August 5, 2016, Region 2 issued an administrative compliance order and information request to the Puerto Rico Aqueduct and Sewer Authority for violations of CWA Section 402 and the applicable NPDES regulations, relating to the Salinas-Guayama Sanitary Sewer Trunk and Collection System/Guayama Wastewater Treatment Plant. The order requires immediate notice of any sanitary sewage overflow; cleanup of the wastewater collection system to eliminate the accumulation of grease and solids; performance of pre-treatment inspections to all commercial establishments within the facility?s sewerage basin; and the development of a work plan for the construction of a new Salinas-Guayama Sanitary Sewer Trunk and Collection System.
