On December 20, 2016, a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) was issued to Qualico Steel Co., Inc. (Qualico) to resolve violations of Section 313 of the Emergency Planning & Community Right-to-Know Act for its facility in Midlothian, Texas. The violations were discovered during an investigation initiated in October of 2014, when the EPA conducted a review of Qualico?s reporting of toxic chemical releases and waste management. The EPA discovered seventeen counts of failure to timely report various chemicals for the years 2010 through 2013, as well Steel has corrected the violations and will pay a civil penalty of $173,076.00.
