On July 24, 2017, EPA Region III entered an expedited settlement agreement (ESA) with Schuch Heavylift Corp. (Schuch) for violations of the Clean Air Act. Schuch is an importer and distributor of mobile cranes. In May 2017, the company imported a mobile crane with an engine that was not EPA certified nor exempt at the time of importation. The noncompliant equipment was imported into the United States at the port of Baltimore. Under the ESA, Schuch has remediated the noncompliant equipment and paid a civil penalty of $32,000.
