On August 10, 2017, Region 1 issued an administrative Complaint against Master Roofing and Restoration (Master Roofing) of Stamford, CT for alleged violations of the Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Rule under TSCA. The Complaint alleges that at the time Master Roofing was renovating a property in Waterbury, CT, Master Roofing had not obtained firm certification, failed to provide the owner or adult occupant of the unit with the EPA-approved 'Renovate Right' pamphlet, used machines that remove lead-based paint through high speed operation without HEPA exhaust control, and did not assign a certified renovator to the renovation. The proposed penalty is $1,354. This case was referred to EPA by the Connecticut Department of Public Health.
7/18/19 Master Roofing failed to answer EPA's complaint and was found in default. The company was ordered to pay a penalty of $1,354 by the EPA Region 1 Regional Judicial Officer.
