Summary

On November 12th, the Regional Judicial Officer issued a Final Order accepting the Expedited Settlement Agreement negotiated pursuant to Section 9006 of RCRA to settle violations of RCRA Subtitle I, and Maryland's federally-authorized underground storage tank (UST) program, by NAI Saturn Eastern, LLC. Respondent is the owner and operator of three USTs located at the Safeway #1939 gas station in Chester, Maryland. As a result of this case, Region 3's enforcement team, in coordination with the Maryland Department of the Environment, was able to resolve the UST violation of failure to have an operable line leak detector on one of the USTs at the facility. The violation was discovered through information collected during an inspection at the facility on April 19, 2019, and from information provided after the inspection. NAI Saturn Eastern, LLC is responsible for a $940 penalty and has returned to compliance with the violation.
