On March 11, 2020, the Region issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Compliance Order (Order) to the Town of Ayer, Massachusetts that addresses the Town's discharges of total phosphorus from its Water Pollution Control Facility. The Order requires the Town to prepare a phosphorus compliance report and submit the report to EPA and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP). The NPDES program has not been delegated to Massachusetts, but MassDEP supports issuance of this Order.
