On April 20, Diesel Works, LLC, of Mt. Joy, PA, signed an Expedited Settlement Agreement (ESA) resolving CAA violations related to the sale or installation of defeat devices. EPA determined that Diesel Works sold or installed performance tuning products, exhaust replacement pipes, and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) delete kits known collectively as defeat devices , which alter the engine's fueling strategy or mechanically bypass vehicle emission controls. Under the ESA, Diesel Works will pay a civil penalty of $22,171 and must cease sales and installation of any defeat devices. This action supports the National Compliance Initiative for Stopping After Market Defeat Devices.
