On July 22, 2021, EPA reached a settlement of alleged Clean Air Act violations with Green Mountain Power Corporation, a power company located in Vergennes, Vermont. EPA found that two diesel generators operated by Green Mountain Power lacked proper monitoring equipment and that Green Mountain Power had not submitted required reports and plans. Engines such as those operated by Green Mountain Power emit hazardous air pollutants. This action addresses the National Compliance Initiative for creating cleaner air for communities by reducing excess emissions of harmful pollutants.

Vermont was notified of EPA's investigation and findings and has supported EPA's lead role in this action. Green Mountain Power has taken steps to address the violations cited by EPA and will pay a penalty of $28,800.
