Region 10 settled with T.R.A. Industries, Inc. D.B.A.: Huntwood Industries (Liberty Lake, WA) for
violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The implementing regulations of
RCRA require entities that generate solid waste to determine if the waste is hazardous and requires that
generators of hazardous waste must manage the hazardous waste in compliance with the RCRA
requirements in order to protect human health and the environment. EPA alleges that Huntwood
Industries generated hazardous waste at the facility and alleges that the facility failed to close
dangerous waste containers; failed to label dangerous waste containers with the words ?Hazardous
Waste or ?Dangerous Waste? and mark with a label or sign which identifies the major risks; failed to
conduct required weekly inspections of hazardous waste accumulation areas; and failed to provide
training for facility personnel and maintain records. Huntwood Industries agreed to pay a penalty of
$64,203.
