On March 27, 2019, EPA inspectors performed an inspection of one of the Respondent's worksites located at 369 Washington Avenue, Brooklyn, New York. During the inspection at this site, which was confirmed by EPA as target housing, inspectors observed multiple violations of the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule. Violations observed included failures to: 1) contain waste from renovation activities to prevent release of dust and debris before waste is removed from the work area 2) cover the floor before beginning the renovation 3) post signs clearly defining the work area and warning occupants and other persons not involved in the renovation activities to remain outside the work area 4) ensure that a certified renovator is assigned to the job 5) contain the waste to prevent release of dust and debris during the transport of waste from renovation activities. Respondent has developed a compliance plan that the firm will implement to ensure future compliance with the RRP Rule and will pay a penalty of $69,000.
