On April 25, 2023, EPA Region 10 issued an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) requiring Ryan Smith and Noah Smith to restore impacted wetlands on property in Central, Alaska. Noah Smith is the property owner, and Ryan Smith is the operator conducting the work that impacted over 6 acres of wetlands to prepare the property for a residential cabin development. In addition to being required to restore the wetlands, the AOC requires Ryan Smith and Noah Smith to execute an environmental covenant that will protect the remaining undisturbed wetlands in perpetuity from future development. A CA/FO seeking civil penalties is pending and will be executed at a later date.
