On April 18, 2023, EPA issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Compliance Order to the Town of Nahant, Massachusetts citing its failure to screen all relevant outfalls/interconnections for the presence of dry-weather flow by July 1, 2021, as required by the 2016 Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) permit. The Order requires the Town to complete dry weather screening at all required MS4 outfalls/interconnections by June 30, 2023. The Region coordinated with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this matter.
