Summary

On February 13, 2024, the federal magistrate approved an ex parte warrant for the M. Earl Adams removal site in Johnston, Rhode Island. The warrant, effective from March 1-August 31, 2024, is necessary because, despite repeated efforts, the Agency was unable to secure voluntary access to the Site from the owner. EPA requested access to perform a preliminary assessment and site investigation under the removal program to investigate the Site for exceedance of perchloroethylene (PCE) and trichloroethylene (TCE). The M. Earl Adams Company was a metal machine parts manufacturing facility. On October 30, 2023, EPA referred a request to the Department of Justice for the issuance of an ex parte administrative warrant at the M. Earl Adams Site in Johnston, Rhode Island.
