On September 19, 2024, EPA issued a Clean Water Act (CWA) administrative order (Order) to Shaughnessy and Ahern Co. in Boston, Massachusetts, for failure to submit discharge monitoring reports (DMRs) pursuant to their CWA National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit authorized to discharge under the Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP). The Order requires the permittees to submit all outstanding DMRs and continue to report as required by their permits. The facility is located in an area of environmental justice concern. While EPA is responsible for implementing the Clean Water Act in Massachusetts, EPA also notified the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection of these actions.
