The City of New York has been in violation of the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) since 1993 for failing to filter its Croton Water Supply. The City requested a modification to the milestones and deadlines established in the Second Supplement due to problems the City attributed to contractors and delays with electrical works and force majeure events. The Third Supplement to the Consent Decree (CD) establishes May 17, 2015, as the date by which the City must commence operation.
