U.S. Department of Justice and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency have filed a Consent Decree with Premix, Inc. in Ashtabula, Ohio. Under the Consent Decree, Premix will pay a $400,000 penalty and will install and operate a control system consisting of an emission capture system and a thermal oxidizer on its thick molding compound and two sheet molding compound machines at its manufacturing facility. This control system will ensure that the facility will be in compliance with the Ohio SIP. This thermal oxidizer must achieve 95% destruction of HAP, and the facility will undertake appropriate performance testing, reporting, and recordkeeping as required by the consent decree.
