As a settlement agreement with the U.S. EPA, Jewel Foods is preparing to eliminate all of the worst ozone-depleting substances from its commercial refrigeration units. Over a course of time, Jewel will also discontinue the use of other ozone-depleting substances and replace these substances with non-ozone depleting substances. Jewel has also committed to designing and building new stores that use only non-ozone depleting substances in its refrigeration units.
