How to monitor a portfolio of companies for regulatory risk

Step-by-step setup for reviewing supported dated public records (SEC, FDA, courts, contracts, enforcement) for a portfolio, one request per company.

Steps

  1. Build your watchlist by ticker

Maintain your list of tickers, CIKs, UEIs, or entity_ids — whatever you have. The /entity/{key} endpoint accepts any of them and joins via the entity_master bridge table.

  2. Pull cross-vertical material events per ticker

    For each ticker:

    GET /api/v1/entity/{ticker}/material-events?days=7

Returns supported dated records with importance ≥ 60, from seven UTC calendar days ago through today (inclusive). The window uses each source event date, not when MORVS first observed the record. Annual aggregates and undated snapshots are excluded.

Historical corrections and late ingests can appear after their source-date window has passed. Check /api/v1/freshness and keep your own first-seen log before treating this as an alert feed.

    Typical signals:

    • Class I FDA recall — importance 100
    • Phase 3 trial termination — 80
    • Antitrust court filing — 75
    • DOJ press release — 60-90
    • Large insider sell — varies by USD
    • Federal Reserve C&D order — 90

    Try: /api/v1/entity/PFE/material-events?days=7

  3. Alert on threshold breaches

    Review candidates:

Track source and accession_number in your own first-seen log to dedupe. The timeline does not establish when MORVS first received a historical record; verify source freshness before paging automatically.

  4. Cross-reference today's hub

Independent of your watchlist, use /today.json for an on-request, UTC source-date-bounded digest aggregating:

    • CISA KEVs · NHTSA park-it recalls · Class I FDA recalls
    • High-signal court filings (Securities/Patent/Antitrust)
    • DOJ press releases · OFAC additions
    • Largest insider sells

The response publishes its generation time and window. Check /api/v1/freshness before treating absence as proof that no event occurred. HTML view: /today.
