## Narrative

A contract driller and an employee were utilizing a horizontal drill to drill in advance of unit # 3 to ensure that we did not mine into the abandoned mine that was located adjacent to the current projections. At approximately 1:50 am the drill encountered a void in the coal seam. An inundation of methane gas entered the return entries off of unit # 3.
