The contact stated that after her daughter had shifted from reverse(R) to drive (D), the front passenger’s side air bag unexpectedly deployed without impact while the contact's boyfriend was in the front passenger’s seat. The failure caused the front driver’s side window to shatter. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact's daughter and her boyfriend both suffered from ringing in the ears, but no medical attention was received.
