## Narrative

On March 15, 2017, at approximately 7:30 a.m., an employee was injured while checking the function of a pump being used to transfer oil from a tank to a compressor station engine. The pump was being heated and a tarp had been placed over the pump in an effort to hold heat due to the outdoor freezing temperatures. The employee reached under the tarp and made contact with a moving piston inside an air exhaust port resulting in the amputation of the right index fingertip.
