## Narrative

An employee was on-site performing scheduled preventative maintenance tasks in the building. He was attempting to break a pipe union on an external rear blow-down line to check it for obstructions when scalding water spontaneously released from inside the boiler and exited the pipe cleanout port, which had its cap removed. He sustained first, second, and third degree burns on his legs, the right side of his torso, and his right arm.
