## Narrative

An employee was attempting to clear out bridged material from a support hopper in the compounding process. The employee opened the bottom of the hopper to insert a tool to break up the material. Upon clearing the jam, the slide gate closed while his hand was in the zone. The employee's middle fingertip on the right hand was pinched by the slide gate as he pulled his hand out, resulting in a fingertip amputation.
