## Narrative

An employee was using new retraction tool to disassemble an air cycle machine unit. In the process of removing the retaining nut, the retraction tool's thread shaft adapter broke, causing a bubble or burst of hydraulic fluid to rupture at up to approximately 6,000 psi. The fluid cut/lacerated the employee's left hand between the middle and forefingers. He was hospitalized and required surgery.
